Open Call for filmmakers: Eurasiadoc Central Asia Workshops

Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Deadline: 17 September

Eurasiadoc workshops are inviting filmmakers from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan who are interested in developing their skills in the field of documentary film. Participation in the workshops is free of charge and includes online meetings with mentors, as well as their support in working on real projects.

Workshop Locations and Dates:
Kyrgyzstan: Bishkek, October 23 - November 3
Tajikistan: Dushanbe, October 23 - November 3
Kazakhstan: Almaty, December 11 - December 22
Uzbekistan: Tashkent, December 4 - December 15

After the counseling sessions, some participants will be invited to attend a series of international film production meetings. These meetings will provide opportunities to meet with producers, TV editors, and representatives of support foundations from Central Asia and Western Europe, who are interested in producing and financing projects of the participants.

The working languages of this program are Kyrgyz, Tajik, Kazakh, Uzbek, and Russian. Knowledge of English will enable participants to more effectively engage in international meetings. The commission will select six filmmakers for each workshop. The primary criterion for selection is the alignment of the film's concept with the creative documentary film approach. Creative documentary films not only capture reality, but also challenge it, compelling the author to articulate and defend their own perspective through dramaturgy, stylistics, and staging details. The commission considers applications from authors who are citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
