Georgia, despite its own political challenges, has become a hub for artists fleeing totalitarian violence or social injustice. However, these artists often operate within their own communities, limiting the intersection and exchange of creative ideas between newcomers and locals.

This residency aims to provide a space for 12 artists to explore cooperation during these fragile times, share their experiences, discuss pressing social and creative issues, and potentially create a joint project. The project will be potentially realized in a second phase of  Tbilisi Crossroads in 2025.

The residency program is initiated and will be jointly carried out from August 9th through 19th, 2024 by Artas Foundation in cooperation with the Culture and Management Lab and Untitled Tbilisi. They invite both local and international artists currently based in Georgia to apply.

The residency is designed to create a context and a safe space for the participants to build a professional network, to support the internationalization of artistic and cultural practices, and to adopt value-driven approaches to artistic work and enrich the cultural life of Georgia by making it more inclusive.

The theme of the residency is “The Artistic Cabaret.” The working language will be English. All costs related to the residency, including a limited amount of working materials, will be covered by the organizers. To apply, interested artists need to submit their applications by May 1st. More information about the open call and the application form can be found at this link.
